To protect online privacy, USMF has implemented the following policy for Users of its USM Forum, an online community for USM Advancement staff.

What Information Does USMF Collect?
Generally, USMF collects and uses data voluntarily submitted by Users to respond to Users’ interests and to develop new professional development offerings. Any personal information you provide to create your profile will not be shared, sold, or rented to any entities or individuals outside of our organization.

We also collect some information passively (such as the client browser type and IP address), which allows us to track usage and improve the User experience.

How Does USMF Use Cookies?
We use cookies (a small data text file that is placed in your browser to allow us to recognize you each time you visit this site). Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but most allow you to instruct your browser to prevent their use. If you disable cookies, please understand that doing so may affect the operation of the USM Forum.

User Agreement

Effective date: February 2023

In connection with my access to and use of the USM Forum, I:
  • will abide by all applicable information security policies, procedures and protocols of my USM Institution in connection with my access to and use of the USM Forum, as if the USM Forum is being made available to me by my USM Institution, and I understand that my failure to do so may result in revocation of my access to the USM Forum, disciplinary action, and civil or criminal penalties;
     
  • will not share my username or password with any other person, and I will take all steps reasonably necessary to prevent unauthorized persons from having access to the USM Forum through me;
     
  • will not disclose on the USM Forum any Personal Identifiable Information (PII) information about a donor, prospective donor, alumnus or alumna, other employee of a USM institution, or other person, except that which is available in official USM communications;
     
  • will not use the USM Forum in any way that violates any federal, state, or local law or regulation;
     
  • will not use the USM Forum in any way that violates the rights of any person or entity protected by copyright, trade secret, patent, or other intellectual property laws or regulations;
     
  • will not use the USM Forum in connection with any for-profit activities, or in connection with any not-for-profit activities unrelated to the academic mission of my USM institution;
     
  • will not attempt to damage the USM Forum and will not intentionally introduce malicious programs into the Forum platform (e.g., viruses, malware, worms, Trojan horses, e-mail bombs, etc.);
     
  • will not transmit obscene, abusive, harassing, or threatening messages, images, or other information on the USM Forum; and
     
  • will not attempt to reverse engineer, disassemble, or decompile any portion of the technology underlying the USM Forum.
     
  • acknowledge receipt of USMF's privacy policy applicable to the USM Forum.

This community is made up of professionals, so we don't expect many issues. However, if you recognize any violation of these guidelines, please notify us within the community by choosing "Report As Inappropriate" and let us know why you feel the content is inappropriate.
